Commitment to Our Local Community
Datatel encourages its employees to be good citizens and contribute to the local community. This is evident in our annual employee satisfaction survey where Datatel consistently reaches a 98% to 99% agree/strongly agree percentage rating on this topic.
Employees work in a grassroots effort to make a difference. Ongoing projects include:
- Tutor/mentoring at Waples Mill Elementary School in Oakton, Virginia. Employees work with students on classroom assignments and homework projects. The partnership with Waples Mill also includes providing a display outlet at Datatel’s headquarters for student art, sharing of technical knowledge, and choral performances by the students at Datatel corporate events.
- Support of employee registration fees for participation in charitable athletic events, including: support of the American Heart Association, American Stroke Association, the INOVA Kellar Center, Association of Retarded Citizens, and the Race for the Cure for Susan B. Komen Foundation – just to name a few.
- Outreach includes collecting toiletries for the Embry Rucker Community Shelter in Reston, Virginia. In 2006 over 140 pounds of toiletries were donated by Datatel employees. In addition, Datatel annually provides funding for Gifts of Dignity for Shelter residents, allowing them to select and purchase holiday gifts.
- Support of the U.S. Troops on an ongoing basis. Employees send care packages of CD’s, DVD’s, magazines, and books to our military personnel stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
- Participation in paper and cardboard recycling programs. Datatel initiated the Aluminum Cans for Burned Children recycling program in the Fair Lakes Office Park. The funds generated support children treated in the burn unit of Children’s National Medical Center.
The Datatel Healthcare Scholars program, in partnership with INOVA Fair Oaks Hospital, helps assure access to advanced training opportunities for local registered nurses. With the challenges of nursing recruitment, this program provides an opportunity to make a difference by recognizing the quality and care delivered by nurses each and every day. Through this program nurses have the opportunity to attend professional conferences and seminars in their respective fields of practice. The program has helped over 30 nurses since its founding in 2002.
