Online Meeting Tools
Datatel uses two online meeting tools: Breeze (an online meeting tool product by Macromedia) and Sametime (an online meeting tool product by Lotus). Below is all the information you will need to use either of these tools. Just select the online meeting tool you need to learn more about:
Breeze
Breeze is an online meeting tool product by Macromedia. The only requirement for using Breeze is Macromedia's Flash Player.
Test a Connection to Breeze
If you have never used Breeze, we encourage you to test a connection to Breeze with the PC you will use during your online meeting. Please use the diagnostic test at the following url:
http://breeze.datatel.com/common/help/en/support/DatatelMeetingTest.htm
If you are not able to run a successful test, please use the troubleshooting link provided from the url above. If you need additional assistance, please contact elearning_support@datatel.com.
Connect to a Breeze Meeting
Once you have successfully tested a connection to Breeze, you are now ready to connect to your scheduled meeting. There are two types of meetings – webinars and virtual classes.
Webinars:
If you are participating in a webinar, you will not be required to log in to Breeze. Instead, you’ll be emailed the direct url to your meeting. Please follow the steps below:
- Once you have launched the url, Enter as a guest:
- A dialogue box will come up asking you to enter your name. Please type your institution name or your institution name-your name (example: ABC College-John Doe) then click Enter Room. This is how you will appear to the other participants and to the meeting presenter.
- The meeting room will then be prepared for you. Congratulations, you are in the online meeting!
Virtual Classes:
If you are participating in a virtual class, you will be required to log in to Breeze. Please follow the steps below:
- Connect to http://breeze.datatel.com
- Log in using your For Our Clients username and password from the Datatel Web site (if you need to obtain a password or need a password reminder go to http://www.datatel.com/login.cfm)
- You will then see a menu called My Scheduled Meetings. Please note that all times listed are Eastern. To access your class, click on the name of the session.
- A new window will open and the conference call information will be listed. Click on Enter Meeting Room when you are ready to join the session.
- The meeting room will then be prepared for you. Congratulations, you are in the online meeting!
Sametime
Sametime is an online meeting tool product by Lotus. It is similar to Microsoft NetMeeting, but does not require that an application be downloaded to your PC. Sametime simply executes within a browser window.

If you have never used Sametime, we encourage you to test a connection to Sametime with the PC you will use during your online meeting.

Connect to a Sametime Meeting
Once you have successfully tested a connection to Sametime, you are now ready to connect to your scheduled meeting. You should use the same PC to connect to your meeting that you used to test a connection to Sametime.
