Datatel’s benefits fall into two categories – the basics and the not-so-basics. We cover your needs for continuous learning, financial security, income protection and health care coverage. We also treat you to some benefits that add more pleasure to your life, including our free tickets program and the fitness and entertainment reimbursements.
Continuous Learning
Our employees rank continuous learning of #1 importance. It’s an integral part of our culture, too, and we commit corporate money and time to prove it. Whether an employee is earning a degree or asking to attend an off-site seminar, we offer tuition reimbursement after nine months of employment. In addition, we host an annual Corporate Training Week when all employees are given an opportunity to receive training – on-site -- in product or professional areas that enhance their knowledge base. Finally, a number of employees are handpicked each year to participate in an all-expense-paid IT master’s program at George Mason University.
Financial Security with 401(k)
Employees begin participating in Datatel’s 401(k) plan the first quarter following their hire date. Also, Datatel matches 100% of the first 5% that an employee contributes. The company makes additional discretionary profit-sharing contributions when certain financial goals are achieved, and they reallocate funds that are forfeited by exiting employees to those participating in the plan. Not many companies go this far to support their employees’ future.
Insurance Coverage and More
Health insurance coverage (through a PPO) is available on the first day of employment to you, your spouse or domestic partner, and your dependents. Datatel pays a significant amount of the employee’s premiums. We offer dental and vision care insurance at very low rates and allow contributions for these premiums to come from pre-tax earnings. Datatel also offers life insurance valued at two times the employee’s base pay and gives employees the opportunity to sign up for supplemental life insurance as well.
Then, there’s our flexible spending benefit. You may set aside additional pre-tax dollars to cover childcare, eldercare and medical expenses. Imagine saving taxes on up to $8,000 of your income!
Disability Insurance
In case of illness or injury, we want to ensure our employees’ salaries are protected. To augment our ten days of paid sick leave, Datatel offers short-term disability insurance. Employees are eligible for between 10 and 90 days of leave at 100% of pay depending on their length of service. After 90 days of disability, long-term disability insurance begins – and the premiums for that are 100% paid by Datatel.
Paid Leave
We offer 8 paid holidays and a generous vacation schedule to our employees. Even new employees are eligible for 15 days (prorated) of vacation in their 1st year and employees continue to earn 15 days of paid vacation through their 4th year of employment. During years 5 through 8, employees receive 20 days of vacation. Then in their 9th year and beyond, they receive 25 days of paid vacation.
Pretty good, right? Well, that’s not all. To help our employees celebrate their big anniversaries of employment (10, 15, 20, 25 and beyond), employees receive an extra 5 days of paid time off plus $1000 toward a special vacation on their 10th and 15th anniversaries. (Something extra special happens at year 20 and 25!) Finally, we want to help employees achieve balance, so we have a policy of “use it or lose it.” Vacation time must be used during the year it is accrued.
In addition, we offer 10 days of paid sick leave per calendar year, which may be used when you are not feeling well, have a doctor's appointment, or when your spouse, domestic partner or dependent children have similar health care needs. It can also be used for preventative or curative activities.
Datatel’s Not-So-Basic Benefits:
Tickets, Tickets, Tickets
Do you enjoy attending sports games or concerts? We do, too! One of our unusual perks is our Free Ticket Program. From concerts performed by Mary Chapin Carpenter or Sting to sporting events to theatre tickets, our employees enjoy attending these very special events at no charge. Here's how the program works: when new employees are hired, their names are put on a list. Each month, people whose names are on the top of the list get to claim tickets, and the newcomers move up from below. It's another way we support our people and bring balance to their lives. And yes, you receive a pair of tickets—not just one.
Keep Fit – with $130 per year
Whether you need a new tennis racket, a new pair of running shoes, a golf club, or a contribution towards your health club membership, our Fitness Reimbursement of $130 comes in very handy. Employees get to decide for themselves how they want to spend the funds, as long as the expenditure relates to an active fitness activity.
That’s Entertainment
Go out to dinner at company expense? Pay for a ride up the Potomac and get reimbursed for it? Datatel employees enjoy a $75 per year entertainment reimbursement to "enjoy themselves." Some save it for our annual party and stay overnight at the hotel where the party is held. Others splurge with their guests and enjoy an elegant night out. Whatever our employees choose, we enjoy reimbursing them. We know just how important it is to work hard and enjoy life, too!
Adoption Reimbursement
For couples choosing to adopt, we offer an adoption reimbursement of $2,500 for eligible expenses. The adoptive parents also receive paid leave, so they and their new child can bond for a time without worrying about the stresses of work.
Parental Leave
Datatel recognizes the importance of balancing family responsibilities with those of the workplace and offers up to 10 days paid leave for employees whose spouse or domestic partner gives birth. This leave can be taken consecutively or intermittently within the first 6 months of the child's birth.
