John Speer, III
President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Speer was named the President and Chief Operating Officer in August 2006, and Chief Executive Officer in 2007. From 1997 until August 2006, John was Datatel’s vice president of sales. In this role, he was responsible for Datatel’s business development activities, including new client acquisitions and ongoing client relationship management. Mr. Speer joined Datatel’s Software Development Division in 1984, and in 1986 relocated to California to help open Datatel’s San Francisco office. He returned to Datatel headquarters in 1994 to become a regional sales manager, leading the newly formed Central Region Business Development Team.

Kevin M. Boyce
Chief Financial Officer
Kevin M. Boyce joined Datatel as its Chief Financial Officer in June 2007. In this capacity, he oversees the company’s Corporate Resources Division (Finance, Information Technology, Human Resources, Knowledge Management, and Corporate Administration) and plays a senior role in its strategic growth initiatives. From June 2006 to June 2007, Mr. Boyce was the Vice President of Finance for North America for Culligan International. He was the lead financial executive of six business lines with combined revenues of approximately $500 million. Previously, Mr. Boyce held a number of financial positions at JPMorgan Chase Vastera, completing his tenure as chief financial officer.

David J. Gutch
Vice President, Sales
Mr. Gutch came to Datatel in January 2008 as its Vice President of Sales. He heads Datatel’s Sales Division and focuses on driving strategic revenue growth and positioning Datatel for continued success in the higher education technology and services market. With more than 25 years of experience in technology-related organizations, Mr. Gutch most recently served as Everest Software’s senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing. There he was responsible for all revenue and lead generation through both direct and indirect sales channels covering 49 countries.

Jayne W. Edge
Vice President, Strategic Planning and Marketing
Jayne Edge was named to her current position at Datatel® in 2001, and leads the company’s Strategic Planning and Marketing division. Since assuming her current role, many advancements and changes have taken place within Datatel’s corporate marketing division, including a new corporate Web site, a corporate identification program, and enhanced client communications. Ms. Edge is also the primary executive officer for the Datatel Users’ Group (DUG), serving as the liaison to the DUG Board of Directors. A current initiative is to increase participation of clients in the conference events as well as advisory teams. A new client appreciation program and executive forums were announced in 2005. She is also instrumental in building partnerships with other software organizations and professional services firms involved in the higher education industry.

Elizabeth A. Murphy
Vice President, Professional Services
As vice president of Professional Services, Liz Murphy is responsible for ensuring that Datatel® clients receive stellar customer service and support. She sees to it that all members of the Professional Services Team are recognized by clients as trusted advisors, who are committed to helping users fully leverage their Colleague® investments. They do this by developing and implementing high quality organizational systems and processes to improve institutional effectiveness. Ms. Murphy also serves as a member of the Datatel Board of Directors.

Thomas A. Reynolds
Vice President, Software Development
Tom joined the Datatel team in 1980 as a Product Manager for Datatel's flagship Colleague solution. He continued as Director of Marketing and subsequently became the company's leader of New Product Development. He held that role until 1985, when he became Vice President of Distributor Sales and New Product Development. Tom continued on as Vice President of Government Software, and then as Vice President of Software Development, CIO for 6 years. Today Tom leads Datatel as the Vice President of Software Development. During his tenure at Datatel, the company has received the U.S. Senate Productivity and Quality Award (SPQA), which is the highest quality award presented by the State of Virginia. Tom attended the Catholic University of America, where he earned his degree in History in 1975. Tom has been a member of the Virginia SPQA Board for four years. He has also served as a member of IEEE, ASQC and TEC.

Virginia L. Piercy
Vice President, Finance
Ginger Piercy, a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Virginia, joined Datatel in 1986 as Vice President of Finance. She is responsible for the financial activities of the company. Prior to Datatel, was a Senior Auditor for Arthur Andersen & Company, and worked for Business Information Systems, the operating group of Planning Research Corporation that provides computerized information systems to the commercial sector. Ginger is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia.
