Scholars Spotlight
What some of our most recent recipients have to say...
"The challenges and apprehensions that accompany my experience as a returning student are many and the financial support of the Datatel Scholars Foundation goes a long way toward relieving that stress. Knowing I have the merit to be honored by this award reassures me and gives me the courage to continue along the path I have chosen."
Kimberly Nagel, Russell Sage College
"My desire to attain a degree in nursing is often laced with the stress of uncertain financial means. Your scholarship helps renew my conviction to persevere in my educational goals. In spite of the many challenges involved in raising a family with limited resources, your support gives me an added sense of confidence in my dreams and abilities. Thank you for your generosity and willingness to invest in the future of scholars like myself."
Sheryl Staub, Valparaiso University
"Your commitment to this scholarship has provided an investment in my future which I hope to in turn reinvest into the lives of others. As a business major, I have chosen to concentrate my studies in the non-profit field so that I may use my education for the betterment of my community. By awarding me with the funds to continue learning, you are truly making a difference in the lives of many people, and for that I offer you my deepest gratitude."
Melissa Louderback, Central College
"I have a strong interest in working with youth from my long-term employment at Job Corps in Astoria, OR. I have had the opportunity to explore different populations through practicum experiences, yet I am still drawn to work with youth. I feel that by working with youth with communication disorders, it may help them improve self-esteem and self-sufficiency while reducing incidents of delinquency that can co-occur with at-risk youth. When life gets challenging, I look to those people who believe in me and draw strength from it. The scholarships I receive are a powerful reminder."
Lisa Tolonen, University of Oregon
"There are many worthy organizations to which you could give your support. Your gift has made a difference in the lives of our students, many of whom would not have the opportunity to pursue higher education without your assistance. Know that you’ve made a difference in the lives of students who are preparing to positively impact our community."
Nicole Linder, Director of Annual Giving and Donor Relations, Fresno Pacific University
